Eddie Lacy: Fat to Fit?

Okay, that might be a little much, but he’s going in the right direction. Lacy was a top 5 running back in fantasy football coming into last season when he suddenly forgot how to run the football. Whether or not he was too out of shape (he probably was), he simply did not get the job done in Green Bay. The worst part? It took a first round pick to draft him! Eddie Lacy owners got screwed last year and so did those that traded for him thinking he’d rebound from a bad start. Eddie Lacy might have been the most hated man in fantasy football in 2015.

But 2016 is a new year and word on the street is that Lacy is back in shape (round is a shape, right?). When we get down to the numbers, though, Lacy’s season wasn’t as bad as everyone wants you to think. First and foremost, he had an ankle issue and simply didn’t get as many carries as previous years between the injury and James Starks getting more carries. Lacy’s yards per carry only dropped from 4.6 to 4.1 — which isn’t great, but isn’t as bad as everyone wants you to believe either. There’s a very good chance Lacy ends up dropping further in the draft than he should and becomes a steal. Snapping up Lacy in the 3rd round when he has the potential to be a top 5 back is how you win championships.
